Our Story
What is Beyond the
Green Book?
Beyond the Green Book is a cultural experience and narrative platform exploring travel, culture, belonging, and the ways people connect to place and one another.

Inspired by the legacy of the original Green Book—a guide that helped Black travelers navigate safety—BTG honors that history while asking a new question:

Where can we go now—and who can we become when we get there?

Through editorial storytelling, curated experiences, group journeys, partnerships, and experiential services, Beyond the Green Book turns curiosity into opportunities to gather, explore, and see the world differently.

At its core, BTG exists to help us move beyond limitation and into depth: in where we go, how we connect, and how boldly we allow ourselves to belong.
Our Purpose
Who It's For

Our Founder
Tyra K. Hawkins

Tyra K. Hawkins is a cultural curator, community builder, and experience designer whose work lives at the intersection of travel, storytelling, and belonging. Originally from Tennessee, Tyra has lived and worked across the South, Midwest, and abroad — experiences that shaped her deep curiosity about place, identity, and how people find their way in unfamiliar places. After years of leading initiatives in higher education and community engagement, she founded Beyond the Green Book as a way to bring her love of travel, culture, and intentional gathering into one platform. Through curated salons, partnerships, and collaborative experiences, she creates spaces that invite reflection, spark connection, and gently shift perspective. Beyond the Green Book is both a professional platform and a personal offering — rooted in her belief that we are not confined by where we come from, but expanded by where we dare to go.
